Plaintiff was driving westbound on Golf Road in Des Plaines when he stopped to make a turn into a gas station just west of Dee Road. While stopped, his vehicle was rear-ended by Defendant Jason Jonas and Sooyun Choi (who settled out of case prior to trial). Plaintiff M-47 suffered brachial plexopathy ($42,328 medl., $12,090 LT 13 weeks as employee of Illinois Dept. of Agriculture). He claimed he felt two impacts to his car, first when struck by Jonas and again when Choi struck Jonas and pushed him into his rear a second time. Defendant Jonas, a teacher, maintained he had come to a complete stop behind Plaintiff's stopped vehicle when Choi rear-ended him and pushed him into Plaintiff, and the defense contended there was only one impact between Jonas' car and Plaintiff's car. Plaintiff's expert on the subject of usual and customary medical bills testified as to the reasonableness and necessity of Plaintiff's bills from treaters who were not at trial.
